Crossfit is great for three things: Building strength, pushing your personal limits and making friends.
I moved to Houston in early 2011. After moving several times around town, I soon realized was how hard it was to keep up with friends when you have to drive over an hour to meet with them! So, after our last move we landed in Spring and I was determined to find a group of friends within 20 minutes from my house. I went to a few awkward meet-up events, but after the second one I knew that was not my jam. One of my friends would not shut up about Crossfit, so I decided to give it a try.
I had played volley ball and tennis at school, but like many other girls out there, lifting weights meant a 10lb dumbbell on each arm lol. After my fist class I was hooked (and a little nauseous to be honest!). I began challenging myself with little goals, and to my amazement I started crossing things off my list I never even thought of trying before (like who came up with handstand push-ups people!?!). I also met the best group of people I could ever ask for (AWWW). Fast forward a few years, and I still consider many of them my new Texan family (seriously, AWW!)
After a couple of years as an athlete I got my L1 certification. I enjoy working with people from all fitness backgrounds and ages. While I was pregnant with my son, I worked out until the day before he was born, so I am pretty good at scaling movements =)
My goal as a coach is to provide my athletes with three key elements on all my classes:
-PROPER FORM: Safety first! but you can also be sure I will be constantly pushing you to improve your performance.
-GREAT MUSIC: When people first meet me they might not see it, but yes, I’m a metal-head.
-A FUN ENVIRONMENT: I’m Mexican, what else can I say! =)
I look forward to meeting you.
